Grass Allergies
Almost twenty percent of Americans suffer from allergies. An allergy reaction is an abnormal response set off by the immune system due to a specific substance in the environment. Some key allergy triggers include, pollen, animal dander, dust mites, mold, food, and bug bites. So what can we do to minimize our chances of getting an allergy outbreak?
Grass Allergies
Well, if you suffer from pollen allergies, the best way for you to avoid an outbreak is to stay indoors on windy days (especially windy days which are accompanied by high pollen counts). On these particular days you should stay indoors with all windows closed. If you happen to suffer from animal dander, there are certain steps you can take in order to prevent an outbreak. Be sure that your animal gets washed at least once a week, make your bedroom a pet free zone and avoid purchasing a house with carpets. Regular cleaning is also a plus. This way you can remove some of the pet hair that ends up on couches and other furniture. If you are allergic to dust mites, the tiny microorganisms that live in house dust, be sure to also upkeep with your regular cleaning. It is also recommended to cover your mattress, pillows, and box springs. Also remember to wash your sheets once a week in hot water and use hypoallergenic pillows.
Grass Allergies
Now, if you happen to suffer from mold allergies, the best thing for you to do is to avoid places that experience excessive moisture. Mold can produce allergens, irritants, and some potentially toxic substances; however, mold needs moisture to grow. To avoid this pest in your house, be sure that you keep your basement and bathroom well ventilated. Also avoid working in the yard with grass and mulch. These are just a few steps towards an allergy free lifestyle.
